Annual Conference

The Annual Conference serves as our primary platform for fostering the sharing of research, building connections, and encouraging cooperation among current and prospective members. The Conference typically brings together around 300-400 participants (and more online). However, in 2024, IAFFE achieved a new milestone with over 800 participants from 85 countries attending our largest-ever international gathering in Rome, Italy. The 2024 conference, themed “Caught Between the Digital Revolution and a Crisis of Democracy: Feminist Economics Responses and Imaginations for the Future,” showcased IAFFE’s commitment to addressing contemporary global issues through a feminist lens. 125 parallel sessions, 3 plenaries, and numerous workshops and poster presentations highlighted diverse research areas, including gender and work, intersectional inequalities, climate change, and digital economies.

IAFFE’s Annual Conferences are thoughtfully crafted to offer an inclusive platform where ideas flow freely, and research pertaining to feminist perspectives on economic matters finds its voice and audience. They are as important for their thought-provoking plenary sessions, academic paper presentations and workshops, as for the many opportunities they offer for meeting others working in similar areas, for strategizing and for socializing. Each year’s Annual Conference venue also hosts other IAFFE events and activities during the week of the Conference, most notably the Feminist Economics School, a pre-Conference and Mentoring Workshop, IAFFE Board meetings and Feminist Economics Journal Editorial Board meetings.
